Description A short history of early dust jackets. The article seeks to expand on the early history of dustjackets, plotting their appearance in Europe prior to the previously accepted date in the 1820s. The resource would be useful as an introduction to the advent of dust jackets for students and interested readers. 

The article appears in The New Antiquarian and is revised from an article that appears in The Journal of the Private Library Association in 2019.
